aerie introduction AERIE pronounced as air-ee MAIN CITY galen PLACE OF ORIGIN zephyrrin
HISTORY OF THE AERIES ·················· the aeries, in myth, were said to be the gods' right hands, as they were winged, like some of the gods. and then they descended upon esune with the task of cleansing it from the ne'er-do-wells and the deformed. however, no one really knows how the aeries came here. for as long as anyone can remember, they have been on esune, being one of the oldest races. they made their homes in the sky, floating just above the reaches of early ground-people. when the technology was available, other races began to make their way into zephyrrin, the hovering utopia. the others slowly began to make homes there, much to the aeries' despair. because of their lack of respect toward their race and toward their home, the aeries fled zephyrrin, burning it down, and taking the non-aeries down with it. it took many years to rebuild a new city, especially since the aeries moved higher into the air to do so. galen is now where they reside, living alongside the privileged ground-people who manage to make it to their humble city.

aerie traits FEATURES AND APPEARANCE ·················· aeries, of course, have large wings sprouting from their backs. their wingspan can be anywhere from five to twenty feet in length, depending on their birthright. the color and shape of their wings also depend on whether they're noble or middle class or lower class. for example, a noble might have long, beautiful, white-feathered wings; whereas, a peasant would have short, almost bat-like wings. on the wings of the aeries, there is also a marking, visible anywhere on the skin. ·················· the winged race of esune is also equipped with very keen eyesight, much like a hawk or an eagle. they can see for miles away just as easily as they can see in front of them. along with their eyesight, they have the uncanny ability to lock onto targets and never lose them. ·················· in addition to their wings and their eyes, aeries have excellent aim, as one might imagine. they almost never miss their target or prey, especially with a bow or throwing weapon. ·················· aeries have to be very light to be carried on the wind, so their bones are smaller and less dense than that of a normal race. because of this, they usually tend to be somewhat shorter, as well. ·················· a physical trait only shared by the aerie is their eye color: it is usually light-colored, almost white. the colors range anywhere from red to blue to yellow. darker-colored irises often mean that they're blind or have problems seeing, which means that they probably won't live long.
