Masq. This place had been her home once. But now, it lay in ruins. It was unclear just how safe or unsafe her former home was now. Many Illians had left after the raid and were now scattered throughout Esune. She still remained in the forest, not taking up residence in the old Narro village, but something about today called for her to make a trip to the place she had come from. Homesickness maybe, but Sirena knew that there was nothing left for her to go back to, except for ruins. She wanted to make this trip short and get back before it got too late.
It was eerily quiet in the old village. So much so Sirena could hear her own breath and her heart beating. Her footsteps were silent as she walked along the dirt. The ground was littered with trinkets that belonged to her people, personal belongings and family heirlooms. Now, they sat here, rusting and getting old with age. Most at this point had disappeared into the ground, but some were still visible. What was visible were the building remains. Everything was burned, dark remains left behind. It was total chaos and destruction that day. Occasionally her hand would rest on an old building, her hand coming away to be stained dark with ash. She remembered that day. The screams, panic, getting separated from the only two people she cared about. On that day, her world ended.
Sirena pulled herself from the building, moving along the rest of the village. Again she stopped, this time in her old home. Most of it had burned to the ground, but in her mind she could still clearly see every room. Memories of her and Cassius floated by, making tears well in her eyes. There was so much she missed about this place. There were no trinkets or heirlooms left here. Anything she or Cassius had left behind was now deep in the dirt, safe from scavengers and thieves. She had to get away from this. On the outside of the village she knew there was a nearby river. It was their main water supply and kept her fellow Illian’s moist when water was scarce in the air. Moving away from her old home, she said good bye a second time to her former home.
Rather than walk, Sirena ran to the river, trying to get away as fast as possible from the village, like it would do her harm. The sound of the river let her know she was getting close before finally it came into view. Her run slowed to a walk, eyes locked on the shimmering water before her. Well, not everything was destroyed or changed. At least the river was still the same. She came to the edge, taking a seat and dipping her feet in. The water was comforting, like a warm blanket despite the cold. Cold water never bothered her. Warm okay. Hot was tolerable as long as it didn’t scold her skin. A sigh left her lips as she felt her tears starting to dry. Closing her eyes, she listened to the river. The water was like a lullaby to her, making her tired but she couldn’t fall asleep out here. Sirena knew she wasn’t safe. Instead she made her body image fade from the view of anyone that would come near her, reflecting and refracting the light so her image became distorted. It was her only safety feature out here.

The humani, what savages those creatures were. And here the whole world was frowning at the Ferus? Hah- at least they, unlike those part animal part human beasts, had a perfect, well functioning brain. The only reason that any filthy creature grimaced at the site of his breed was simply because they knew of their power and how far along they were moving in this world. In his own personal opinion, they really wouldn’t need the dros to be on their side. They were just… extra players in this field. They generally stayed out of the way of everything anyways and once this war was won he didn’t see a problem with granting them a little space and then taking care of them. Of course, these decisions were really out of his hands. What was he in the scheme in all of this but a pawn himself? However, the will of his fiery Ferus was strong and full of fight. If he wanted to take a higher seat in this battle then he would do it and he would do it with ease. He knew how to weasel in and out of power as he needed to. For the moment, he was staying out of it and keeping his distance. He had his strong opinions but really nothing too much more than that. It would be that way… for now.
His day had started the peak of the volcano. His body had been hunched over the hot magma and his eyes closed. By now, he was used to the putrid smell that it let off. He was far too fond of the heat to let a few bad smells scare him away.
The heat was exactly why he had been there. It was that and a few silent prayers to the god of the flames and maybe a few others. In his community these things were very important. They tried their best to appease the gods and often believed that because of them they did well. And with a battle raging between them and the rest of the world, they needed all the aid of the gods that they could get. He was aware of this so he prayed for that and his own well being and perhaps some future power in the scheme of things.
After his morning with the magma he had made his way through the ash and solid lava, back to the village. But he didn’t stay with his people in their village. Instead he continued on, his fingers clicking together and sparking aggravated flames. He wasn’t exactly mad or anything, it was just that he was itching to start a fire. Everything inside of him was literally set aflame, a soft orange glow illuminating from his bare skin. It was rare that he ever wore much. Everything light cheap had a habit of catching on fire whenever he wore it. He did have the decency to wear stitched black pants though. It helped him to appear a little more human when he was out of his home.
A few trinkets hung from around his neck, some of them made from the bones of animals and the rest beads made from the solid lava. Leather boots were laced up completely to his calves.
Blaise found himself wandering through forest, his nails burning holes in every tree that he happened to walk by, leaving him feel somewhat satisfied. He could smell the old ash in the village he was approaching. To his nose, it smelled rather nice. But he didn’t manage to reach the village. He stopped in his tracks, a problem presented before him. Water. He wasn’t exactly fond of water. Blaise stopped at the river’s edge, his brows furrowing with disgust. His eyes moved up away from the ground, surveying everything around him. Something didn’t feel… right.

Eventually Sirena fell back to lay on the ground, letting her eyes wander around the tops of trees and what sky she could see. The smell of the old village was still lingering around her, filling her mind with images every time she closed her eyes for a period of time. This week would probably bring bad dreams when she slept, her old memories she’d been trying to suppress would surface again. Although, she knew it was only for a small time before her life fell back into place and the memories would fade away.
There was a soft sound that caught Sirena’s ear, causing her to sit up but keep her image hidden. What she saw actually made her blush slightly. It was a boy, maybe her age or a year older, but he was quite... attractive. Yet there was something strange about him. The air around her seemed somewhat warmer. She wasn’t sure if it was because of her blush or something else. Either way, she wanted to get his attention. Yet, for someone to see an illian it was a rare site since the attack. So, rather than make herself visible front and center, she decided to play a trick on him.
Slowly her legs were pulled out of the water, making sure not to make any noise as she moved closer to the boy across the river from her. Her footsteps were light and she was now directly across from the boy. Slowly she crouched down, bracing herself with one hand while the other suddenly dipped into the water and splashed water onto the boy. Quickly Sirena moved away from the edge of the river to hide behind a tree, peeking out to see the boys reaction to his suddenly splash of water. She clamped a hand over her mouth to keep her laugh quiet, but it was hard to do so. Occasionally the sound would slip out, but she ducked behind the tree so she wouldn’t be seen just in case the boy should be looking her way.
After her fit of giggles, she peeked out from behind the tree. She smiled at the boy, reducing her safety net of invisibility to somewhat expose herself to the boy. “Aw you’re all wet.” she chided him with slight sarcasm, “Did you fall in?” She was treating him like a child, but she knew well that it was her who had splashed him with water. Now that she though about it, she wished she would have gone to the other side and actually pushed him in, but that might cause a much more serious reaction than what she wanted. Either way, she remained behind the tree to have some kind of protection from the boy that was across from her. After all, she didn’t know what he was or who he was.
Just what was this boy, and why was he all the way out here as Masq? No one ever came here, or at least she thought no one came here. Maybe a few former illians who used to live here, but that was rare. She was here, but she was probably the only visitor to her former home since the incident. Yet, her she was this boy with her. He was either traveling through or he was on some kind of mission. But from his attire it didn’t look like it. Speaking of attire, her eyes now were finally able to drift across the rest of his body. Again she blushed at his physique. But still, she didn’t know what he was. Sirena was still cautious around him.
